Do you know who to call in the event of a pet emergency?
As a loving pet parent, you never want to see your four-legged friend in distress. Unfortunately, unexpected illnesses and sudden accidents can occur at any time. The way you handle these types of situations can make all the difference in the world for your loved one. At Noah’s Animal Hospital, we want you to know that you’ve got a dedicated team in your corner. You can rest easy knowing that we’ll be there for you in your time of need.
Our sister hospital, Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care West, is equipped to provide life-saving critical care at a moment’s notice. With staff members who are experienced in emergency medicine, we can quickly diagnose the problem and deliver the most timely and effective care. Most importantly, we will work together to handle your companion’s case with the utmost compassion, doing everything within our power to achieve a positive outcome.
Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance
- Broken bones
- Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
- Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
- Trauma, such as a fall or being hit by a car
- Swollen or tender abdomen
- Difficulty urinating
- Foaming at the mouth
- Loss of consciousness
If you notice your companion exhibiting any of these signs, it’s time to call for help right away. Whenever possible, we always recommend calling ahead when an emergency occurs. This allows us to evaluate the situation and provide first aid instructions over the phone. It also lets us prepare the hospital and other team members for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of the emergency not allow time for a phone call, don’t hesitate to bring your pet directly in for immediate attention. The emergency clinic can be reached at (317) 491-1900.
We sincerely hope you never experience the need for urgent veterinary care. If you do, however, we want you to know who to call. The teams at Noah’s Animal Hospital and Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care will be there to provide the highest level of care available. You can count on us!
